About Kristy

My Story

Kristy L. Shanahan lives in northern Illinois with her family and her Golden Retriever, Rosie.  She has degrees from the University of Wisconsin, Johns Hopkins University, and Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science.  She is retired from teaching full-time but is still an adjunct faculty at Rosalind Franklin University.   She spent many years teaching biomedical and biological sciences and working as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, MLS(ASCP)CM.  This book, however, relates to my hobbies and interests outside of work and was inspired by a recent visit to Roswell, New Mexico.  In her spare time, she also enjoys traveling and visiting family and friends.

Inspiration for this Book:

I do feel that my life history did have a role in this book. I grew up as a religious child and have always been interested in religion. I read the bible cover to cover at age 13. Also, my step grandmother was psychic and communicated with spirits. I was around her as a young child and so did not talk to her too much about this, but I do know her friends and many family members believed in her gift.

Yet growing up I also became very interested in science and medicine in school. I became a medical technologist and worked over 25 years in hospital and medical labs identifying microbes and conducting sensitivity testing on them to guide patient treatment. I went on to get an MS degree in biotechnology and a master’s in clinical laboratory science, then returned to school later in life (in my 50s) to earn PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology (graduating at age 63). I went into teaching after leaving the hospital lab and taught biology, microbiology, medical lab and various life sciences.

Religion and spirituality are not supposed to go well with science, so I kind of feel like I have a dual background in the eyes of most people. Religious people don’t always trust science and the scientists would think I was into pseudo-science or not objective if I included religion. Some scientists might also be kind of off put that I wrote a book about aliens. Yet, I feel there are a lot of things in common between these fields. Science is really seeking the truth about the universe at a complex level and the individual’s religious and spiritual quest is also like that as well, looking for truth in different life experiences in all these areas. This book kind of brings all these things together.  It is interesting now that there are several scientific articles lately claiming a connection between quantum mechanics mechanisms and spirituality or quantum mechanics and the consciousness of the mind.

Then, finally, after I retired from full-time work, we went on a vacation to Roswell and that kind of opened my mind to the possibility of the reality of UFOs.  This came about as we went on many tours and the tour guides gave the history of the local people and the families involved in the Roswell incident. I also went to talks at the International UFO Museum there as well.  We talked to a family (the grandchildren of Dan Dwyer) that had a store in downtown Roswell, Invasion Station. The grandfather of this family was a fireman that went to the UFO crash scene at Roswell and much later told his family about the UFO ship and alien bodies he saw. Talking to these real people and their family members made a big impression on me.  I also watched many documentaries with statements from various Roswell witnesses. Their stories were the most compelling to me and held the greatest weight in my belief in this story.

Also, realizing that the first report in the news about this Roswell event came from the Roswell Army Air Field that impounded the spacecraft initially strengthens the veracity of this incident.  These men were the same men that were involved in flying the Enola Gay bombing flights, solidly honorable and honest men.  I am old enough to have known this Greatest Generation (my parents’ generation) quite well and I know how honorable and duty-bound they were. If the military or government told them to keep things quiet, they would do their duty and keep quiet. They carried the burden of being silenced and holding that secret for most of their lives. Still, most did tell their families some of the truth later in life before they passed. There are several documentaries showing these Roswell witnesses and their children telling their stories. Through these personal stories I came to believe this UFO encounter to be real and that they likely recovered alien bodies.

"Roswell was the beginning of a series of very many such modern UFO incidents that were covered up by various governments, and there were many UFO incidents in the past. We should consider what will yet come - will they announce themselves?."
